What is a home inspection?

  • A home inspection covers all the major components of the house,  including the home's structural integrity, roof, electrical system, plumbing, HVAC system, and any other areas that show damage or concern.
  • Your home inspection will include a written report with checklists and photos of the property.  This information, combined with the sellers disclosure and your observations will be very important in your negotiations.

Why should you consider a home inspection?

Ensure the home you buy is a good investment

If you are looking at a home as an investment, then you are probably hoping to get more out of it than you put into it. A home inspection can help make sure you know if there are major defects or things that need to be fixed immediately. This allows you to better understand how much money you may need to put in to the home in the near future. A home inspector can help identify any issues that could have an adverse impact on the value of the property and can also help you negotiate the price of the home.

A home is likely the biggest purchase you will make

You're investing a whole lot of time and money into the house of your dreams and you need someone to make sure it is worth your time and money.

Understand maintenance costs before purchase

There will be maintenance costs associated with a home whether old or new.  A home inspection can help you determine what those maintenances might entail, and how often.

Ensure that your home will be a safe place to live

As a home inspector, I focus on finding and pointing out anything in/on/around the home that is unsafe, deficient, not functioning properly, or is near the end of it's service life.  This allows you to be able to request that certain changes are made before you purchase your new home.
